[opensuse] libreoffice help opens web browser
On older versions of libreoffice, hitting f1 or going to the help menu would bring up the actual libreoffice help menu. Since about a month ago it opens up my browser and goes to the web based help. I have searched through the menus, especially tools -> options, and cannot find a configuration command to tell it to open up the installed help instead of the web, and no avail. I find several instances of the same problem on the web, but none that actually provide a solution. This has happened on my home desktop, my laptop, and my work desktop. On all 3 I am using Leap 42.2 and libreoffice 5.2.3. Anyone else have the same problem, and maybe you know a way to go back to offline help? Seems like it has to be common, if I have it happening on all 3 of my computers. for the libreoffice version that is in the repositories, it is bundled with the application. I never had to install the help separately before, and it used the offline help. It is only with the version that came with 42.2 that it now opens the web browser. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The same is true for LibreOffice in Tumbleweed. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You can download the help file here: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ Bob -- Bob Williams System: Linux 4.4.46-11-default Distro: openSUSE 42.2 (x86_64) Desktop: KDE Frameworks: 5.26.0, Qt: 5.6.1 and Plasma: 5.8.2

the application bundled in the repos has the help files embedded with libreoffice (or at least it used to). It is only since 42.2 that it goes to the web for help. I think if you install it from source, you have to install the help files separately. I can't find any packages that say they are help files when I query rpm, but I think the help files are in the language packages. -- George Box: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | AMD Phenom IIX4 | 64 | 32GB Laptop #1: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | Core i7-4710HQ | 64 | 16GB Laptop #2: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | Core i5 | 64 | 8GB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I sent the following reply twice, but when I sent it both times, the email did not post on the list. I can't figure out why - my test email I just sent did post on the list. ----------------------- the application bundled in the repos has the help files embedded with libreoffice (or at least it used to). Sorry everyone. There was a problem with my filtering scheme in thunderbird. I have it fixed now. -- George Box: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | AMD Phenom IIX4 | 64 | 32GB Laptop #1: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | Core i7-4710HQ | 64 | 16GB Laptop #2: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | Core i5 | 64 | 8GB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I believe there is an off-line help package that can be installed. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

This happens on 42.1 as well. It seems that suse has not built the offline help into the distro. Some people say the offline help is buggy and not worth having, so either use the online help or download the PDF version. Or download everything from the libreOffice web site instead of using the openSUSE version.
