Say George, what's the chances that they miss typed an internal IP address, x.y.z.255, creating a directed broadcast which jumps their routers and slams everyone out on the internet that has a network address of x.y.z.? ??? Is this hair too wild? JLK
About 0% As soon as the first router gets the broadcast packet, it will send the message up the protocol stack vice routing it. This is because the broadcast is addressed to all hosts on the local network. In this situation, it is easier to believe the bank has a cracker in its midst than to think there is a glitch in the foundation of the Internet that is affecting only one person on this list. -- George Toft http://www.georgetoft.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

From the local network: hawaii:~ $ nslookup kahoolawe.gtoft.penguinpowered.com Server: kahoolawe.gtoft.penguinpowered.com Address: 192.168.93.101
Name: kahoolawe.gtoft.penguinpowered.com Address: 192.168.93.101
From a machine at the University of Hawaii: [bob@ics bob]$ nslookup gtoft.penguinpowered.com Server: localhost Address: 127.0.0.1
Name: gtoft.penguinpowered.com Address: 24.31.72.10 So the only problem is that my DNS doesn't do zone transfers. If it did, things would be MUCH worse.
Postfix/fetchmail drops dead every time.
Does anyone else have this problem? -- George Toft http://www.georgetoft.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

I got around it by adding the domain to my okay list. My Postfix (anyway) is set to check that all sending domains have a DNS entry. Of course ones on a LAN cannot be checked so I must work this one out. Sean PS anyone else getting Fetchmail-Daemon messages about a badly configured fetchmail setup.
