Does opensuse or SLES support the "1.34 GHz UltraSPARC IIIi" processor? Thanks, LDB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
No. It will require a lot of manpower to make openSUSE for SPARC for too few customers. I saw statistics: 1 man on sparc 100 man on PPC 10000 on x86 SPARC has about 0.01% of user base of x86. But if there any SPARC people interested, it might be nice to build SPARC port of openSUSE. -- -Alexey Eromenko "Technologov" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

There once was SuSE-linux 7.0 - 7.3... (still have it here) And even a sparc dedicated mailing list ;=8 (all gone) A real fully supported SLE (s/d) is out of the question, it just won't sell, and hence not worth the effort for suse's employees. Fair enough. OTOH, It would certainly be a nice community project, but expect it to take a huge amount of effort & time. So you see, you just need a couple of people.... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Gentoo runs on sparc64 (and alpha and hppa) - a lot of the basic infra-structure could probably be borrowed from there. I experimented with gentto/hppa a couple of years ago, worked fine. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Have a look at auroralinux: FC based, running on sparc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Unfotunately, they haven't updated their news since last January and they haven't updated the site since december. It may have been abandoned..... :-( -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No, and AFAIK, there are no plans to support it. -- "A computer is like an Old Testament god, with a lot of rules and no mercy. " Cristian Rodríguez R. Platform/OpenSUSE - Core Services SUSE LINUX Products GmbH Research & Development http://www.opensuse.org/

No, neither of them is available for the SPARC architecture. The market is simply far too small to be commercially viable. Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
