Re: [opensuse] chroot: cannot run command `/bin/bash': No such file or directory
Hi there,
as for your questions:
1. want to work on a mounted ISO to create a customized live-cd/live-usb
I *know* there are tons of ready-to-go live-distros but at my work we need to include some home-brew utils...
2. nothing special... just mounted the ISO image and wanted to chroot to where it is mounted...

Martin

I'm getting that ugly error message:
# chroot /disk2/mnt/sources chroot: cannot run command `/bin/bash': No such file or directory
then I tried:
# chroot /disk2/mnt/sources /bin/bash chroot: cannot run command `/bin/bash': No such file or directory
on some Ubuntu-related archives someone found the solution reinstaling the coreutils ... I did but it seems not to be the solution for SuSE...
Any ideas on how to get rid of that error and make chroot work properly?
it would be ubercool if you could tell us: 1. what do you try to achieve? 2. what did you do so far to achieve that goal? that would be very nice. darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I can reproduce that behaviour (SuSE 10.1): nimrodel:~ # ls /mnt/ dvd dvd.crypta.x isocd isodvd nfs nfs_cdrom nfs_dvd nfs_su tmp nimrodel:~ # chroot /mnt/ chroot: cannot run command `/bin/bash': No such file or directory I don't remember this behaviour on previous versions of SuSE :-? - -- Cheers, Carlos E. what iso? the live cd from suse? or our installation images? the later dont have a running system on them. and for creating a livecd with suse ... did you see that presentation at the fosdem: http://en.opensuse.org/FOSDEM (at the bottom)
2. nothing special... just mounted the ISO image and wanted to chroot to where it is mounted...
your assumption is wrong that our installation medias are a running system. darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Did you cd first to the directory you are chrooting to? IIANM, you should cd /disk2/mnt/sources chroot /disk2/mnt/sources exit to leave the chroot.
