Trying to get Yast2 online update to work. Environment: Vanilla install of SuSE 7.1 on Pentium III 650 Mhz, 384 MB RAM When run I get the error "There is no connection to network; please connect manually." 1. Have set the 'FTP_PROXY' value in /etc/rc.config then ran SuSEconfig. 2. Have set the shell environmental variable FTP_PROXY. I can ftp at the command line via the usage of tsocks and /etc/tsocks.conf I can ftp at the web browser using web proxy server via a web proxy server also performing ftp proxy service for us. We are behind a firewall, but the socksified ftp can get out using the /etc/tsocks configuration and the web browers can get out using the web proxy server. So I have two questions: 1. What configuration or settings are required on yast2 to allow it to use industry standard socks or proxy servers to get out? 2. What steps do I take to be able to satisfy the 'please connect manually' message I get from yast2? I have already checked the SuSE 7.1 Technical Guide Manual, geocrawler.com, suse.lists.com and suse support database for clues as to how to proceed with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, jpg
