I asked why SuSE makes compiling simple C-code like xhell.c using Motif so difficult. Rafael Herrera answered (thanks!)
You have to install the development packages in your computer. Suse does not make it difficult, you assume it should be installed. Some things are installed by default, others are not. Install these packages for all Motif related files: openmotif-2.2.2-355.i586.rpm openmotif-demo-2.2.2-355.i586.rpm openmotif-devel-2.2.2-355.i586.rpm
I've installed all Motif related packages including these. But why does YaST2 not install these? Why is there no help to find the way in the myriad of devel packages and gcc options? Why does gcc not find header and lib files without options -I/usr/X11R6/include/ -L/usr/X11R6/lib/ There should be some config or env setting to ease compiling and SuSE should have set it.
