[SLE] I want to refuse emails with future date
Does anybody know how to add a feature in procmail that would check the arriving email and if it is an email of more than 12 hours ahead just drop it? Same for emails that arrives after 72 hours. bye Ronald -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Change the score in SpamAssassin for the rules that fire in those circumstances. - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFEm9mVtTMYHG2NR9URAoA6AJ0TkA00a+UtnMHtIFaM6torLj3vNwCfeuqC 3D2UliwSSkdxkgK3qUeKkpk= =0Mrl -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Change the score in SpamAssassin for the rules that fire in those circumstances. This is probably the better place to do it, but be careful. Legitimate emails can be delayed for several days. I think that if you use a 4-day cuttof for old emails, that should be sufficient. I would think that the 12 hours into the future would probably be good. -- Jerry Feldman <gaf@blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix user group http://www.blu.org PGP key id:C5061EA9 PGP Key fingerprint:053C 73EC 3AC1 5C44 3E14 9245 FB00 3ED5 C506 1EA9

Certainly. If a person is using dial-up, he can be answering emails and then not send them till an hour later - or till next day, even. SA doesn't mark an email as spam just for a single rule hitting. You guys puzzle me. How come you don't want to know what the future is going to be like? The trick you need to learn is to get those correspondents who write from the future to help out with information you can really use - stock tips, horse racing results, delayed flights and so on. Leave the other stuff to Carl Sagan and James T. In my experience, almost all email from the future is spam. How depressing! -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

There have been cases on list, even several months off. - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFEm/I8tTMYHG2NR9URAgCXAKCX+D+XBpR/R3eLtk39Jp2kQF0CwACeIn9K 5exD73BfZ2qIcq/CRm+m7dk= =/Bfw -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Those settings are a little harsh as mentioned by others in the list. I would however, like you, love to see a procmail recipe to place 'old' or 'future' email in a folder for me to review if the year or month differs by more than say 2.
Nice idea, but remember dialup users, might be very good source of information but may only be able to connect to send email once or twice a month. In the end it is your call though.
