I am having problems with my Creative Banshee Blaster 3DFX AGP setup in Suse 6.2
I downloaded what should be the correct XSVGA server but I get a lot of flickering on the screen when it has been accepted as the correct one.
Whatever you did, undo it. Seriously. Remove all of the RPMs that you downloaded from the internet, and install xsvga from the SuSE 6.2 discs. You might also be interested in the stuff from the series x3d on disc 3. Once xsvga.rpm is installed, start SaX. SaX should auto-configure the card, all you have to do is set up the mouse, keyboard, monitor, and the resolutions you want. Hint: use 16-bit color modes only. 24- and 32-bit color are not implemented well on the Banshee/V3, and GLIDE/Mesa won't work at higher than 16-bit anyway. If, by some chance, SaX gives you problems (doesn't start the XSVGA server, tells you that XBanshee is not installed), leave SaX and do this: ln -sf /usr/X11/bin/XF86_SVGA /usr/X11/bin/XFCom_Banshee Try SaX again.
