Hi folks, I have two hard drives. The first holds my SuSE 9.1 system, plus installed software, plus my working development directory. The second automatically appeared as /data1 when I installed SuSE. I copy 'valuable' stuff onto /data1 as a 'backup'. My question: If I have to reformat and re-install (a frequent task under MilliSoft) can I do so in a way that leaves /data1 intact and accessable? Any special techniques / advice? e.g. need same root /user passwords? Regards, Colin

Safest way from recent experience, pull the cable on it, well it was early in the morning and I wasn't seeing straight, so it said hdc1 but I read it as hda1 instead ....oops!. In a manual install, you can elect not to format partitions, done it many times. I had a problem upgrading from 9.1 to 9.2, I did a fresh install over 9.1 without formatting and ended up with a good 9.2. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ...
