[opensuse] Audio static in wmv
Helllo SuSE people, Running 10.3, Kde 3.5.10 on s 64 bit machine. Kaffeine, Xine, and all codecs installed. No recent upgrades. All of a sudden, when I go to play a wmv file with Kafffeine or Xine the audio portion consists of short bursts of static only. An mpg file plays properly. Amarok plays mp3, wav, streaming audio. Youtube audio works fine. It is just the wmv files. Tried several of my old archived wmv files that I know used to work, same result. Any ideas? Anyone seen or heard of this before? Replying to my own post, When I say static, I mean no expected orregular sound. It sounds like burst of firing from an automatic weapon. I find I can play wmv files with Mplayer, sooooo, it probably boils down to the xine engine or libxine. I went into Yast and updated Kaffeine, xine-ui, and libxine1. Anyone can tell me what other packages should be there?, or better yet what can be causing this? No answer here but have a sort of similar problem, but about a week ago, suddenly my kaffeine player won't play any wmv's at all. No upgrades/updates done here either. It still plays all mpg's and ogg's and such, but simply stopped playing wmv's. Mplayer and kmplayer both play wmv's just fine. -- The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hmmm....sounds similar. But you get nothing? I do have the video correctly but with the horrible noise.

My problem is the opposite...I have sound just fine, but no video at all, just a black screen as it plays.
