[opensuse] dull opensuse website, leap info
Hello: Recently I've looked at www.opensuse.org website. It has no any information regarding openSUSE. It only says Tumbleweed and Leap, nothing about openSUSE. If I click Leap/learn more it gives the download leap page. No information on leap, what it is, how it's related to SUSE or openSUSE, nothing. How can a website so inappropriate? Where can I find a description of leap? Thanks, Istvan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Have you scrolled down the page? Admittedly, there still isn't the same introduction / overview like found on the original page. You have to scroll to the bottom and click on Wiki or another link to get close to the information you're after. In any case, it might be better to mention this on the Marketing mailing list. gumb -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, website is a mess, No, not joining another mailing list to report it. Its THEIR job to subscribe here. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

----------- furthermore : as website's main mention is LEAP + Tumbleweed , wonder if it would be appropriate to accept Tumbleweed subjects on this List , because the Factory List is governed by Developers , who , quite reasonably , become irritated by questions raised by mere non-technical Mortals : - what does mr Richard think ? ........... regards -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Tumbleweed is basically the same as factory was. Made differently, yes. With caveats. In the repos, factory is often a symlink to tumbleweed. The factory mail list was never only for developers, but also for anybody using Factory; ie, for betatesters, that traditionally needed to be at least a bit of experts, not mere mortals. I've been looking for a reference to this, but I couldn't: the FAQ (opensuse-factory+faq@opensuse.org) doesn't mention anything about suitable content. But I remember :-) The assumption is that normal users of the stable release will not know about new features or differences implemented in the Factory release; thus asking here is a waste of time. And conversely, developers need to get feedback. But TW has been a big success, meaning that the factory mail list gets much more posts that it got before. We could accept TW in the standard mail list, but saying right in the header that it is a TW question. Perhaps adding a "[TW]" in the subject line. On the other hand, IMHO opinion developers should be more tolerant of the increased traffic, as it benefits the project, and wear asbestos clothes ;-) -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Unfortunately, true. I can testify that, personally... :-( -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)

Seems there is plenty of rudeness to go around. 1) Post here in Opensuse = get dope-slapped and sent away to another list 2) Tuck tail, and join other list = dope-slapped, insulted, and turfed again 3) Give up and google for two days = find ubuntu instructions and try to convert 4) Rinse, 5) Repeat. In the end, until you certain no one here knows the answer, its best to ignore the people who point you to other lists. These people generally don't know the answer, but they are willing to play list police, and send you from an UNBUSY list to a VERY BUSY list. Sometimes it just takes a day or 3 for a question to be answered. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
