It's not a load balancer we're looking for here, but rather a 'selector'.
DNS? /etc/hosts? may be I don't understand the question jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://news.opensuse.org/2009/04/13/people-of-opensuse-jean-daniel-dodin/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi everybody, - Greg is right, thousands of IP's would do. But from an administrative point of view, it would not be easy to handle. - but from what JDD writes, I just came up with this...what if the DNS server (reading from a central hosts file) would handle out the correct IP given a username as a subdomain. A la: peter.lots_of_machines.somewhere 10.0.1.5 jasmin.lots_of_machines.somewhere 10.0.1.6 ...etc. If one could append the new machinename to the hosts file during creation of yet one more virtual instance, that would do...And the vmware folks know how to give a new machine a new MAC number on the fly. Is this a viable solution, do you think? -- ------------------------------ Med venlig hilsen/Best regards Verner Kjærsgaard Novell Certified Linux Professional 10035701 Linux Counter no 114954 ------------------------------ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

DDNS - just run a name server. /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (16.1°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
