mpg123 will run well on low spec machines (i.e. a 486). Will probably go lower by changing some options.

If you are interested, I have made a bash script to control mpg123 as a jukebox. I also have a perl script that gives a web interface... it works surprisingly well! :o)

next, i am not familiar with perl, what is it good for, is it easy to learn (i code 6k assembler, PPE, Ansi-C and TP (both a bit)) and : is perl usable from ANYWARE in linux (i.e. shell ?)
