Info to SuSE about KDE 2.1 (and SuSE 7.2).
Hi! KDE 2.1 has an annoying bug triggered by the "Recent Apps" section at the top of the KMenu. For the first five times you open an application from the KMenu and then click on the KMenu button the menu will appear below the edge of Kicker, often resulting in the logout dialog popping up. This gets very irritating for new users. They can't know that the bug disappears after opening five programs. To avoid this bug: Set the "NumVisableEntries" to "0" in kickerrc. I've reported this bug to the maintainer of kickerrc, but it has not yet been fixed. And when it gets fixed, it will be in version 2.2 and not 2.1 as SuSE will be using next. Regards, Mattias

I found another, simple solution for this: in K > Control Center > tab 'Index' > Look & Feel > Panel > tab 'Menus' set "Max number of 'Quick Start' entries" to 4 instead of 5. SH

What you're actually doing is changing the "NumVisableEntries" to "4" (but using the GUI instead of editing kickerrc). That won't do it though, it will make the bug appear four times. The only valid option is "0" if you want to make a good first impression. (Obviously the bug disappears when you fill your "RecentAppsStat" list up, but then it's too late - quite probably you have an annoyed user already.) What do you at SuSE say about this? I'm curious. What screen resolution are you running when you do this. I've never seen it. It would seem that the screen is too small for the whole menu. FWIW, I'm running at 1152X870 and the top of the menu doesn't come anywhere close to the top of the screen.
