Regards ______________________________________________________________ http://www.webmail.co.za the South African FREE email service
Yes it's possible... You need a second graphic card, A second screen, a USB KeyBoard/Mouse Or you can use an old pc with a network card to get the same effect more efficiently... Jerry On Friday 25 February 2005 08:38, it clown wrote:

Thanks Paul. I see in that address, an equipment for four users and the hardware to obtain it is: 4 graphic cards for monitors, and 2 Ps/2 and 6 usb/2 connectors para the keyboards (3 keyboars with usb) and mouses (3 mouses with usb), althought is not given the lenght of the cables or if it is wireless. jose

HP has a four-headed system called 441 they're selling in South Africa. http://www.hp441.com/news/index.jsp It is based on Mandrake, but since it is Linux then whatever they're doing is probably adaptable to SuSE. And I found a mention on google of a similar 4 headed linux project in Brazil. The translated page didn't work on google, but here's another site that talks about it: http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/07/03/1923255&tid=106 I suspect both the HP 441 and the FourHead are the same thing and they probably use the XFree Local Multi-User strategy: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/XFree-Local-multi-user-HOWTO/
Thanks for the links. On Fri, 25 Feb 2005 21:21:59 -0500 Synthetic Cartoonz <synthetoonz@bellsouth.net> wrote:

Am I mistaken or ignorant or something, or is this not really a problem at all for Linux? Apart from making sure that the keyboard, mouse and monitors are properly associated with each other, there's no particular problem with attaching multiple sets of them to a single system, right? Naturally, you can only attach a single PS/2 mouse and keyboard, but you should be able to attach multiple USB keyboards and mice, right? Anyway, I'd be interested in learning what actual issues arise when attaches multiple sets of monitor+mouse+keyboard to a single system. Randall Schulz
