Running SuSE 9.1 pro with KDE. When I click on HTML link in Evolution it pops up epiphany, not Firefox. I have set in the gnome control center to use Firefox as well as setting Firefox as the default in KDE. If I uninstall Epiphany it will not launch anything! -- Thank you, Matt Duval Sr. Network Engineer HealthTrans www.healthtrans.com "Transforming Healthcare, One Transaction At A Time" (720) 493-8252 6061 South Willow Drive Suite 125 Greenwood Village, CO 80111

You need to configure firefox in "preferred file types and programs" under "advanced" settings (I think that's what it's called - can't check at the moment). Under "internet - unknown" insert firefox, or the appropriate path to the executable. I don't think just setting firefox as your preferred browser is enough.

When I first used it, I backed up /opt/gnome/bin/epiphany, "rm /opt/gnome/bin/epiphany" and "ln -s /usr/local/firefox/firefox /opt/gnome/bin/epiphany". Now I use the genuine epiphany. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer =====LINUX ONLY USED HERE=====

That does seem a rather roundabout way of doing it! I do think that Firefox is very much the better browser, but each to his own! Regards David

That was a quick fix after I had spent some time in a fruitless search for a proper solution. I don't use that many links from emails, so epiphany usually is OK, other times I just cut and paste to firefox. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer =====LINUX ONLY USED HERE=====

Time for your first hack cwsiv@linux:/opt/gnome/bin>ls epip* -lh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 2004-07-25 21:52 epiphany -> /usr/bin/mozilla -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 976K 2004-04-06 23:25 epiphany-bin -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 369 2004-04-06 23:25 epiphany.off Simply mv epiphany epiphany.off then make a symbolic link named epiphany to Firefox if your not shure where things are use which which mozilla which epiphany which firefox -- _______ _______ _______ __ / ____\ \ / / ____|_ _\ \ / / | | \ \ /\ / / (___ | | \ \ / / | | \ \/ \/ / \___ \ | | \ \/ / | |____ \ /\ / ____) |_| |_ \ / \_____| \/ \/ |_____/|_____| \/ | \ /|\ || |\ / |~~\ /~~\ /~~| //~~\ | \ / | \ || | X |__/| || |( `--. |__ | | \| \_/ / \ | \ \__/ \__| \\__/
