It's best to spread swap-space over more devices. You might want to try setting up a swap-partition on both disks. I for instance, have four SCSI-disks, and all disks contain a swap-partition. That way, Linux doesn't have to wait for one disk in order to access the next, which is much faster than putting your swap-partition on one disk.
