Hi , I wanted to test the new KDE3rc3 , so I downloaded the rpms , and installed them with Yast . But when I restarted the PC , I found that I keep on running Kde 2.2.2 . After that , I uninstalled every rpm relationed with any version of KDE and reinstalled the rpms of KDE3rc3 , and after restart the machine , I was running something unknown for me (I am quite new on Linux) , but I am sure it wasn't KDE. Any suggestion. Thanks .

first try to edit in you home dir filie .xinitrc at the end you will have something like # # finally start the window manager # exec $WINDOWMANAGER just bevore exec insert WINDOWMANAGER="kde3" and this will do it is probably possible to change window manager globaly in /etc/rc.config by changing DEFAULT_WM="kde" to kde3 but I didn't try this -- Pozdrawiam/Regards Piotr GG 1957588 ICQ 148575640 -- Pozdrawiam/Regards Piotr GG 1957588 ICQ 148575640
Great ! It works , and in my opinion is very usefull because you can test KDE3rc3 on a diferent user keepeing the habitual working with KDE2 Thanks. El Dom 31 Mar 2002 19:18, mysiar escribió:

There are several ways to fix this, this is basically the nicest if you use KDM (i.e. the graphical boot) Go into KDE control panel, enter system / login manager, and then add a new kde3 session. The beta kde3 programs and libraries are set up not to replace KDE2, so it needs a seperate session.
