Can someone tell me how to get pine to launch lynx for a url.
I can't get anything but a brief glimps of lynx and then it returns
to pine. I just can't figure out what to put into the url viewer
config option in pine.
Thanks.

In Pine's opening menu, choose Setup, then Configure, check off the 'enable urls' box near (but below) the middle of the configure menu, and at the very end of the configure menu enter 'url handler = /user/local/bin/lynx/' Be aware, I'm modeling that location on my ISP's SunOS version, your lynx binary may be slightly elsewhere. This is what I'm trying. When I try to launch a URL it shows lynx for a split second and the goes back to pine. With a [VIEWER command completed] at the bottom.

You have to pass the URL to Lynx as well. It should read the following: /usr/bin/lynx _URL_ The online help for this parameter is very interesting, too! You can even configure multiple browsers (e.g. Netscape, when running X, lynx when on the console). I use "w3m" for the command line, since it renders tables and frames as well. Here's my .pinerc for this: # List of programs to open Internet URLs (e.g. http or ftp references). url-viewers=_TEST("test -n '${DISPLAY}'")_ "/usr/X11R6/bin/Netscape -raise -remo "/usr/bin/w3m _URL_" -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lenz Grimmer SuSE GmbH mailto:grimmer@suse.de Schanzaeckerstr. 10 http://www.suse.de/~grimmer 90443 Nuernberg, Germany -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
