Dear all, I recently got a "Creative Webcam Go Plus" and want to use it under SuSE 6.4 (Kernel 2.2.14). On the Creative's website I only can find info/drivers for both Windoze and MacOS. Has anyone among you experienced such an installation under Linux? Any hints will be very welcomed! Thanks a lot in advance and best regards, Martin

I was looking for a webcam recently and saw in several places that the Webcam Go Plus is not supported under linux because it has a non-standard chip in it (ie. not an OV511). Unless things have changed in the last 6 weeks or so, you're out of luck.

There isn't one single source of information that I have found, but google does a pretty good job of locating this sort of information, as does deja. I started at http://www.linux-usb.org and followed the link from there to http://alpha.dyndns.org/ov511/cameras.html. I suggest you read the docs at that second link - your Creative Webcam 3 works fine under Linux.

LWN carries a list of weekly updates to Freshmeat which may be useful - the only problem I found is that so much gets updated each week you spend about a week reading what has been updated. Try http://www.lwn.net/ and then look at the bottom of the Announcements section. Best of luck, Graham Smith ----------------------------------
