[opensuse] Display resolution 1600x1200 will not accepted by 10.2
Hi all, I've little problem here. I got a SUN 365-1430 monitor as present here yesterday. The monitor does work fine and supports a resolution up to 1600x1200. If I do enter this resolution to sax2 and test it, sax2 will fall back to 1280x1024, no matter what I provide sax2 as monitor data. Does anyone of you have the idea what the problem could be? 915resolution does provide me this: sudo 915resolution -l albr17's password: Intel 800/900 Series VBIOS Hack : version 0.5.3 Chipset: 945G BIOS: TYPE 1 Mode Table Offset: $C0000 + $269 Mode Table Entries: 27 Mode 30 : 640x480, 8 bits/pixel Mode 32 : 800x600, 8 bits/pixel Mode 34 : 1024x768, 8 bits/pixel Mode 38 : 1280x1024, 8 bits/pixel Mode 3a : 1600x1200, 8 bits/pixel Mode 3c : 1600x1200, 8 bits/pixel Mode 41 : 640x480, 16 bits/pixel Mode 43 : 800x600, 16 bits/pixel Mode 45 : 1024x768, 16 bits/pixel Mode 49 : 1280x1024, 16 bits/pixel Mode 4b : 1600x1200, 16 bits/pixel Mode 4d : 1600x1200, 16 bits/pixel Mode 50 : 640x480, 32 bits/pixel Mode 52 : 800x600, 32 bits/pixel Mode 54 : 1024x768, 32 bits/pixel Mode 58 : 1280x1024, 32 bits/pixel Mode 5a : 1600x1200, 32 bits/pixel Mode 5c : 1600x1200, 32 bits/pixel So I assume I do not have to patch the the vbios, as my resolution is already listed there. I've worked myself through various prostings and already provided the monitor specifications to sax2 by hand, but I still do not get my wanted resolution. Any idea? Okaz, that was quite difficult: My DVI extension card could not handle that resolution. SUB-D works fine. Thanks for your help so far. Jan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for your help so far. Jan Then imho you should consider investing into another card.
Because: When I compare my 1600x1200 DVI against using the same resolution via the SUB-D connection, I know very well why DVI is what I am using. ;-) SuSE 10.2, Old Radeon 9200SE with opensource driver and with Samsung 214T TFT. kind regards Eberhard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
