But I can not send or receive email at cwsiv@access4free.com cwsiv@access-4-free.com or cwsiv@myfreei.com I can however use myrealbox.com via pop3 just fine. Where should I look for the error? Might be the '@' should be '.' as: smtp.access-4-free.com ??? -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org

Then I suggest you use evolution to read/write mail and use postfix and fetchmail to transfer. Then you can get meaningful error logs and determine the problem. gui is _not_ necessarily better and definitely not easier, it is just different. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org

I agree, however a useful thing to test would be can you ping that host name? It could be temporarily down, or the DNS server for that domain could be having issues. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0). When I boot that part of this box I note postfix is part of the boot sequence. I dont recall specifically setting it up but up until two days ago it was working. I plan to recheck all settings available as root and I also have a call into the ISP which has changed policys from 3 free email addresses to 1. None of their settings in the online instructions is different from what I printed out when I set up for the first time. Worst case I would have to backup the /home/<user>/evolution and delete the original. I dont however want to loose the mail. How can that be done?
