[opensuse] Does YaST Support ADS Security Setting in Samba
I followed the instructions from this posting: http://en.opensuse.org/Setting_up_Squid_NTLM_DansGuardian_Sarg to be able to setup NTLM Authentication. One instruction says to change the security setting in smb.conf to "security=ads". Everything works, and Winbind lists the users and groups. However, when I go into YaST to add SMB shares, YaST changes the security back to being "user". This means that all of the shares created on the server cannot be accessed unless a user account is added to smbpasswd. What I would like is to have Samba shares authenticated by AD. Can I setup Samba using YaST to be able to join a domain as a member server (security=ads) and authenticate Samba shares using AD through YaST and, if so, how is it done? This smells like a bug. Please report it via bugzilla and reference this thread (http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2009-07/msg01028.html). Please ensure to set the openSUSE version you have in use. Please also include the Samba version you have installed. For both components the openSUSE wiki has a bug reporting guide line: http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/YaST and http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/Samba Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
