What does this fix?
There was a bug in the probing order, i.e. a generic ATI driver came before the correct Rage128 driver, resulting in a non working X server.
Is this different from the driver included with 3.3.6? If so which is better? Please-)
Nope, AFAIK, the fix is also in 3.3.6.
