Now I click on my CD desktop icon I get can't mount drive with a standard CD or audio CD.
What did I miss or do wrong?
<snip> You did nothing wrong. The problem is the icon on your desktop probably points to /dev/cdrom (see the properties). This is normally set as a symbolic link to /dev/hdc an ide device. When you set up to use ide-scsi the cdrom is no longer an ide device but a scsi one. As you have only the one cdrom I suspect it's now /dev/scd0 (or /dev/sr0 for a writer). The easiest way to get it to work is to go into /dev and delete the cdrom link. then create a new one to point at your cd writer ln -s /dev/sr0 /dev/cdrom Once done all should work...
