[oS-EN] Where is Firefox Pocket button?
Hi, For years I have been using the "Pocket" button in firefox, but in this laptop it is gone. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/pocket/ https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/save-web-pages-later-pocket-firefox https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/disable-or-re-enable-pocket-for-firefox about:config - extensions.pocket.enabled should be true. And it is. It says: +++-------------------------- *Restore the Pocket toolbar button* If you removed the Pocket button from the toolbar and you later want to bring it back: Click the menu button Fx89menuButton, then click More tools and select Customize Toolbar… Drag and drop the Pocket button from the customization panel into your toolbar. --------------------------++- Well, the icon is not there. Has openSUSE done something to remove it so I can not enable it, perhaps? -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.5 (Laicolasse))

Well, I removed it from my toolbar, but I *can* return it. That is a FEATURE not a BUG :) That thing is like Beagle to me: extensions.pocket.enabled false I think the key here is:
If you removed the Pocket button from the toolbar and you later want to bring it back:
You haven't removed it, so I don't think those mozilla support pages would apply. I'm sill on 15.4, so I don't know if I have the same version of FF you are talking about, but I recall reading the new FF would have either an ellipse or other overflow widget at the far right of your toolbar that would provide access to menu items that no longer fit. Don't know if that is what is happening, but check if there isn't something like that. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Well, that's the link I found. I did not remove it, but SUSE (not openSUSE, Leap uses the SUSE SLES version) may have removed it for some corporate usage reason. Just now, I created a new FF profile. extensions.pocket.enabled is true, the button is not there, nor in the customize toolbar thing.

I already looked there. I have version 115.4.0esr (64-bit)

AFAIR, my desktop computer back home had the button, but I have not been there for 3 months.

Needs registration. It saves the current link address to a place "on the cloud". You can later easily open that cloud site and see a small preview of all those sites you saved. You also get a daily email with lists of popular links. That's my take on it, you can see their blurb on <https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/pocket/> It is an official Mozilla feature. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.5 (Laicolasse))

Okay, I'm curious about all this fret to find pocket. If you were going to tell me about how you use it and say: "David, I use pocket to ..... and it does this for me that helps ..... coordinate ...type... of information, for use ....when" --- what would you say in that regard. I may have been to hasty in tossing pocket overboard. I may need to circle-back and throw him a life-ring and pulling it back up unto my boat -- metaphorically speaking :) -- David C. I click on the button and the link on the current tab is stored "on the pocket cloud", so that later I open the pocket page and see small previews of the pages and I can read again some information that is useful to me. I'm not sure if this is the intended intention, maybe the idea is that if many people "share" the same link it becomes popular, and that link is mailed in their mailing list to many people. But what I said above is how I use it. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.5 (Laicolasse))

¿What data? The only thing you post is public reachable links. The link, not the contents. The site downloads the data on its own, the public data, it can actually see different things than you do. If you share amazon, I get the Spanish site, it gets the usa site. It is never private data, unless you do the silliness of sharing a link of a password protected site. It doesn't have the password. It doesn't even read what links you open, only those link names you click the button. So if I find an information on how to do dynamic partitioning on the go, I post that, http://opensuse.org/mightypartition. What data do you think I can be disclosing? :-D The only thing they get is this string: http://opensuse.org/mightypartition Very dangerous information to disclose, man! :-P -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.5 (Laicolasse))
Don't know anything about "Pocket" but I can't find anything in "Customize Toolbar". However, if you go to "Tools" then "Add-Ons and Themes" then put "pocket" in the search box you will find all sorts of stuff. "In My Pocket" says it is a supercharged replacement for the "Pocket" that was removed. -- “The strength of the Constitution lies entirely in the determination of each citizen to defend it. G'day Carlos, From memory, the Pocket button your are referring to went by the wayside a while back now. I added the Firefox Add-on called 'View Pocket List' by "Paul". HTH. -- Joe Khamis | Khamis Consulting Pty Ltd e joe@khamis.com.au | m 0412 201 711
