[SLE] IP Traffic Accounting
Hi Can anyone recommend some software for use on SuSE 6.3 system for tracking my IP traffic? Our upstream provider charges me out for outgoing traffic and I want to ensure they are being honest with us. You can try ntop (series n).

Thanx Jean-Franois The problem with ntop is that if I reboot all is lost! YEs I know I can log the output but then how to analyse the log? I'm looking for a tool that will atomatically record the info to a log and provide some kind of report on request. You could just throw in and ipchains rule for the "output" chain such as: ipchains -A output -i eth1 That won't do anything but accumulate packet and byte counts for packets sent out on "eth1". (This assumes your default policy for "output" is ACCEPT.) You can view the running totals with: ipchains -L output -nv You can change "eth1" to "ppp0" or whatever interface you connect to your ISP with. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
