[S.u.S.E. Linux] Question about kernel options and GTK
I would like to know which options were set (Yes-No-Module) when people at S.u.S.E. compiled the kernel (2.0.33 - no SCSI) packaged with SuSE 5.1 distribution. I would like to compile an application that requires GTK 1.0. Unfortunately, SuSE 5.1 installs GTK 0.97 so I downloaded and compiled successfully GTK 1.0 but when I tried to remove my old GTK, I got an error saying that libgtk.so.1, libglib.so.1 and libgdk.so.1 are needed by gimp-0.99.15-4. If I force GTK 0.97 removal, and install GTK 1.0, would GIMP complain about the new libraries or not? Thanks for your help. Just have yast uninstall gimp and gtk, install your new gtk, make sure it's in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH and have yast reinstall gimp. If gimp protests about the libs (doubtful), simply pick up a newer gimp. The default SuSE kernel is massive, 500+k, I imagine they have damn near everything compiled into it :) Simone Castellaneta wrote:

Look on CD#1 in the directory /suse/images/config. There you'll find the config files for all kernels. For the names: "config.eide01" is the config file of the install kernel "eide01". "config.eide01.ikr" is the config file of the installed kernel which is used after installation.
Bye.
