[opensuse] Problem with acroread
I have been using 11.0 with no problems for ~2 months. Yesterday, I suddenly could not start acroread. It returns this error message from the command line: :acroread /usr/bin/acroread: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: \ undefined symbol: g_signal_new_class_handler This is on a 64 bit system with 64 bit Suse. I tried reinstalling acroread and gtk with no effect. I don't think I had changed anything on the system which would have caused this. Acroread had worked fine until the last day or so. Any hints greatly appreciated! Bernie w1az@comcast.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Try to use a different version of this library, by setting a soft link to an older version if available. I have a similar system, but I have not noticed any problems with acroread. -- Bogdan Cristea software engineer Sytron Technologies Overseas www.sytron.ro -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried the current and previous versions of gtk. I have also tried different versions of acroread, both from the suse repositories and from the Adobe site. I even tried version 7 as well as the current version 8 from the adobe site. In all cases, as either normal user or root, the result is the same error about an undefined symbol.
