Hi guys, I'm having an odd problem on my HP nx6125 notebook. When I unplug the charger, my CPU usage jumps up to around 60-80% If I look at top, the offending process is kacpid, but restarting acpid doesn't make a difference. If I restart powersaved, CPU usage is normal for a few seconds, and then jumps up again. This doesn't do my batterylife any favours... /var/log/messages doesn't give me anything, /var/log/acpi gives me the following: Sep 24 22:49:18 theluggage [acpid]: received event "processor C000 00000080 00000002" Sep 24 22:49:18 theluggage [acpid]: notifying client 3348[0:0] Sep 24 22:49:18 theluggage [acpid]: notifying client 2956[0:0] Sep 24 22:49:18 theluggage [acpid]: completed event "processor C000 00000080 00000002" Sep 24 22:49:18 theluggage [acpid]: received event "processor C000 00000080 00000001" Sep 24 22:49:18 theluggage [acpid]: notifying client 3348[0:0] Sep 24 22:49:18 theluggage [acpid]: notifying client 2956[0:0] Sep 24 22:49:18 theluggage [acpid]: completed event "processor C000 00000080 00000001" This repeats roughly every second. Has anybody see this? Thanks Hans

Actually, there's another problem. When the screen goes into dpms "off" mode, it only remains off for a second or so, and then switches on again, just remain blank. If I do it manually: xset dpms force off It does the same. Hans

Something is generating events continuously, and the daemon handles it. Hardware? Interrupt by level vs edge?
Has anybody see this?
I don't know enough about it, I'm guessing. Sorry. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFFFv2YtTMYHG2NR9URAvo0AKCA/ZVghyfCRNxaipXb3XXnetrU/ACcC58j KSw6MAXicYZ3aJ12ASynlkw= =+yhO -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
