I don't think "someone" reads this list. Have no idea what you are inquiring about "general" rpm ... Do you have any idea. Would it not be simpler to merely install it from the openSUSE-Education repo? Do you have any idea how to search for "artha" ? https://software.opensuse.org/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&baseproject=ALL&q=artha Time you learned a little about your chosen distro. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

opi is a perl script, actually quite readable. I've only used webpin years ago, yet these days I hardly use software.o.o anymore since opi does exactly what I wanted: show me if someone builds package X for the running system. It even provides installing skype, vscode, the packman codecs. And, it asks you, after installing X, if you want to keep the repo X comes from active. https://github.com/openSUSE-zh/opi -- Gertjan Lettink a.k.a. I prefer reading documentation ;-) I tried reading the source, it doesn't tell me much. Well, that it calls obs, so probably installing the obs package is necessary. Perhaps an account, too.

Tried to reinstall it, and get this: ...
Well, What this means is you just became a software packager :). It is a shame, that in the minds of some, (old software == bad software), but just as PI hasn't changed this past decade -- but it is still useful, the same applies to software... The issue becomes "does it still build?". If yes, not an issue, package usually hangs around. If no, and it hasn't been updated by the developer in years, and nobody is advocating for it, then it will likely be kicked. That's where you come in with your openSUSE buildservice account. You take on the role of building it, and if you fix the issue, you can suggest that the package be put back in place (no guarantees it will, but openSUSE devs are usually reasonable about such things) So, If you need it, I would suggest you grab the last source-rpm for it and install rpmbuild and see if it still builds (with rpmbuild --rebuild name.src.rpm), if not -- you know where to start. -- David C. I have been a devotee of Artha for probably more than 10 years, on several systems, and now I find it's GONE??? It worked up until a couple days ago. System: Tumbleweed.
Artha is apparently available from the education repo.

Different tools with very different algorithms and logistics. webpin queried a web service on internet that had already created an index in advance. There was, probably, some sort of cron job that crawled all the repos and indexed all files and packages. That server is not working (it is external), so the "webpin" package can not work on its own.It is not webpin which is broken, it is the server; well, now probably both. opi instead calls some osc commands to do the search on the build service instead (and the packman equivalent). Yes, that is so. And apparently the server can't be placed on openSUSE public servers, because it searches packman (or was it nvidia?). Oh, I see, I actually just hit "Reply" to Gertjan's e-mail and it pulled in Doug's signature which I didn't catch... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

All the text beyond it is lost. Well, it isn't lost. My MUA simply displays it in grey; your perhaps does something different. After all, what would be the point of a signature that wasn't displayed? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

if for any reason you need to quote the signature, it's enough to select it before answering :-) jdd -- http://dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Tried to reinstall it, and get this:
The official reason seems to be as follows * Unmaintained: Last release in 2012 * Security holes (see boo#1143860) To keep the distro secure and of decent standard, packages with security or critical bugs that don't get fixed end up being dropped. If someone fixes the security issues then it can go back in. https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/784238 -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B
