Hi I remember seeing a CAD that was for drawing houses for some time ago. Now I can't seem to find it anymore... Anyone know what CAD that was? Jaska.

Sorry, no idea but I believe to remeber that there was an article in the german linux-magazine. www.linux-magazine.de perhaps helps. - -- Ralf Prengel Dortmund -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE9TuoFgRRKXJrQjTsRAgjqAJ4lzwC1XqfLIadlGsSruxoPBbGPowCgy4EC 3tza8XhI5Yvb3Xj1nCOma3U= =tlbB -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

The only CAD I know is qcad.org It is included in Suse distribution . but, you can download if you wish . Fábio Rabelo
About 3 years ago, there was a program that was supposed to be an AutoCad clone. When I followed the links, and asked some questions, somebody told me it was so bad he would break the licence and send me a copy so I could prove it to myself. I didn't take him up on his offer, but I didn't buy the program either. I don't know if there has been something else, since. I would kind of like to know, so if you find out, please copy me in. I have no objection to actually paying money for programs that work, so long as the money is not ridiculous. BTW: If you're not familiar with AutoCad, it is probably the number one 2D drafting program, as well as the first. It takes a little getting used to, and a good reference book, which you get with the program. The Lite version came at a couple hundred dollars a few years ago, and would do anything the casual designer needed doing. Upgrades were in the ~$100 range. The full-up non- lite program is at about rev 14, I think, and sells for about $2K. But you could easily design a house with AutoCad Lite. (A friend built a fancy garage, with upstairs rooms, etc., using it.) If anyone knows if any version of AC Lite runs reliably under some version of WINE, please tell me just how to do it! I have not used it, but have heard a lot of bad things about LinuxCAD.
From what I read it was buggy, and the company was charging to fix things. The review that I read the author was very very disappointed. I think that they put somewhere in their license agreement about not saying anything negative about the product.

I've also never used it, but the reason for that was the fact that they kept spamming me to advertise their product, and I never buy from spammers. -- David Smith Work Email: Dave.Smith@st.com STMicroelectronics Home Email: David.Smith@ds-electronics.co.uk Bristol, England GPG Key: 0xF13192F2
Why not try Xfig? It comes in practically all distributions. Regards Basil Fowler On Monday 05 Aug 2002 20:57, jaakko tamminen wrote:
