get their option1 package for $45 per YEAR !!!! It's the cheapest I've found.

They don't give ssh access without a reason, but just email them and tell them you need it to change directory perms for your cgi programs, and they should enable ssh for you.

Wow, thanks for the great response everyone.

Affordablehost.com looks good so far compared with the others. For those that were wondering, yes, I wanted SSH (not SSL), mostly for moving files around and setting permissions. I hate trying to do that stuff through a "web control panel".

Hi Paul, SSH allows you to send data to/from a web site in an encypted form. If you're concerned about your username and password, or about customer data, you really need SSH capability. A bonus is rsync, a program that allows you to synchronize a reference site with a remote one via an SSH session. I have hands-on experience with two companies, Communitech and Prentice Internet. Communitech supports SSH, but won't allow rsync. Prentice supports both. No, that's SSL. SSH is the Secure Shell. Telnet over SSL, if you will.
