Does anyone have recommendations for cheap, reliable web hosting? Preferably one with ssh access. There are about a million web hosting firms out there, hard to figure out who is good and who is not. Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ Right behind you, I see the millions Got spam? Wow, thanks for the great response everyone. Affordablehost.com looks good so far compared with the others. For those that were wondering, yes, I wanted SSH (not SSL), mostly for moving files around and setting permissions. I hate trying to do that stuff through a "web control panel". Hi Paul, SSH allows you to send data to/from a web site in an encypted form. If you're concerned about your username and password, or about customer data, you really need SSH capability. A bonus is rsync, a program that allows you to synchronize a reference site with a remote one via an SSH session. I have hands-on experience with two companies, Communitech and Prentice Internet. Communitech supports SSH, but won't allow rsync. Prentice supports both. I'd say that Prentice is a bit more friendly to the technically competent, they run their servers on Linux. http://www.communitech.net http://www.prentice-internet.com Regards, Lew Wolfgang On Sun, 30 Jun 2002, Paul Miles wrote:

No, that's SSL. SSH is the Secure Shell. Telnet over SSL, if you will. regards Anders -- `When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.'

he could have meant scp, which is obviously the secure copy program usually bundled with ssh. ... and no, All Secure Domain don't offer SSL encrypted FTP access.
