It was taken over by some purported Christians. Christ himself never observed Sabbath on the first day of the week. God never changes, never changed His 10 commandments, never changed the special seventh day named Sabbath to the first day of the week. There are still true Christians who observe Sabbath on God's seventh day, which in the USA is named Saturday, while in much of the world Sabbat or similar.

On the other hand, the international standard for dates, etc., is ISO 8601, which defines the code for the days of the week, with Monday as 1 and Sunday as 7, and considers Monday as the first day of the week.

The people who print calendars for distribution in the USA apparently have paid little or no mind to ISO 8601. In my world Saturday is the first day the week. Our "week" pay period ends on Friday and the next starts on Saturday.

Install glibc-i18ndata, modify your locale definition and compile using localedef under different name.

On enlightenment (DM), we can control it from the desktop without glibc-i18ndata.

Now what?  I *think* that a locale can take precedence over the compiled defaults, so maybe I'm looking at creating a locale file.  I have less than no knowledge of how to do that :-/  Am I on the right track?  If so, got any pointers to how to proceed?

Basically, "cal" will follow the settings on the variable "LC_TIME" of whatever locale you have set.
