[SuSE Linux] Building the distro from source.??
Just wondered if anyone out there has built the whole SuSE distro from the source rpms ?. What if any benefits would there be,as stuff i seem to build is mostly larger than the binaries provided. I guess maybe the debugging symbols or such like are stripped out or something. I was thinking along the lines of my forthcoming 6.0 upgrade. Maybe a script could be written that modifies the source.rpm`s .spec files,so i can optimize the code for this modest machine. Would this need a huge /usr/src though, cause at every build you have the source rpm,and the binary. Maybe the script could delete the both of them after the building. Just a thought... any ideas ??. -- Myfish.
