[opensuse] USB Devices just stop working!
Hi all, I have taken the plunge and performed a fresh install 13.1 on my HP Compaq Presario CQ60 (replacing a 11.2 installation). I seem to have an issue with usb. I boot the machine and all is well for a while. Then my USB mouse and external USB HDD stop responding. The mouse is getting power from the USB socket as the red led underneath lights up. After they have stopped responding, if I watch /var/log/messages and unplug / plug in the devices nothing appears in the message log. Is there a way to restart the USB subsystem like I can restart the network? Ah! Rebooted. All was OK again until, something crashed... If the crash isn't related, which admittedly is not likely, perhaps power management causes USB ports to stop responding. In my case, unless I disable autosuspend for USB devices using powertop, they stop responding after a while. -- Regards, Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
