The next one is even more 'puzzling', so to speak. A short time ago I downloaded this latest stable version 4.2.4.2 from libreoffice.org and tried to install it - just like I have been installing the versions from libreoffice for the past several years. But this time I strike a unsolvable dependency problem: 4.2.4.2 "tells" me that there are 3 files which are not available for it and so it cannot install. But the 3 files *ARE* installed and available! Checked and double-checked, and checked again. So what is the possible cause of the problem? The files that libreoffice is looking for have been moved to another directory/subdirectory: the files it wants are located in /usr/lib64/ but I don't know where they were originally located. I got my LibreOffice back by re-installing the earlier version - 4.2.0. I don't know who is causing this problem but to me it is clear that openSUSE is *WAY* behind what is available from LibreOffice.org. Did you a "zypper dup --from libreoffice" (or whichever the name of you repo is)? It worked without any problem here. Johannes Am 06.06.2014 10:21, schrieb Dylan:

I just updated from there last night (from a 4.1.6 install) and it was fine.. no pages of dependency problems. It was an easy/typical move from stock 13.1 LibreOffice to the Factory 13.1 LibreOffice. When you run YaST2 you are able to view the Repositories available and add new repositories. Under the Community Repositories there is the LibreOffice respository - and this repository gets you: download.opensuse.org/repositories/LibreOffice:/stable/openSUSE_13.1/ . Well, if you look here: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ you will see that LibreOffice 4.1.6 is one of the two available released versions - ie the "stable" release vs the "fresh" release. So you are getting **A** current release of LibreOffice. Should it be 4.2.4.2? Probably, but providing 4.1.6 is still technically within the confines of the latest supported release as provided by TDF. :-P Where does factory come into the picture? Easy. Go here: http://software.opensuse.org/131/en and search LibreOffice (like you should do when you want to find openSUSE apps right?). I have to agree with Basil, I would expect the most recent LO package in "LibreOffice:Unstable" repo, and the most recent stable in "LibreOffice:Stable". However, the version in "LibreOffice:Stable" is 4.1.6.2, and in "LibreOffice:Unstable" we have 4.1.1.2, which is older... it makes no sense. I have to conclude that something is wrong with the "LibreOffice:*" repos. I haven't dug down that far and if your analysis is correct - which I am sure it is - then there would appear to be serious misgivings about the relevance of this Community Repository with respect to the most important application in openSUSE (and Linux world generally) which is LibreOffice.
Has "LibreOffice:Unstable" repo been abandoned?
Why?
A very good question. ============================== However, there is the other matter which I raised in my first post: the LO downloaded from the LO site shows that there are 3 files missing and so it won't install - but these 3 files ARE installed and they are all to be found in /usr/lib64. Why can't v4.2.4.2 find them? Have they been recently moved from the original place where LO expects to find them? Or does LO 4.2.4.2 contain an error and is looking for these files in the wrong place? As I mentioned, I re-installed LO v 4.2.0.4 and it installed without a hitch. (But does it need these same files? I don't know.) I really do not know where the problem may lay. Oh no, none of this "go here" and "go there" crap. I install openSUSE and LibreOffice is installed. I then hear that there is a new version available. I know that there is YaST2 where I can see that there is a Community Repository called LibreOffice - and this is the repository I acrivate with the intention of getting the latest version of LibreOffice. I know nothing about software.opensuse.org/131/en nor have I even heard of it. So how would I "go" there if I have never heard of it?

"show unstable packages"...... and "shazam, there's the LibreOffice release [I] wanted". Well Captain Marvel, I do not associate shazam with anything which contains the word "unstable" in the description :-) . Unstable is, well, unstable and I want something which is stable. The LibreOffice site shows the stable version(s) available and the pre-release version(s). The repository in YaST2 has the description "...../LibreOffice:/stable/......." -- not 'unstable' or 'Factory' but the simple word "stable" - which is the word used on the LO site for version 4.2.4.2 which is the one I downloaded.
