[SuSE Linux] I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>Is there anyone on this mailing list that is willing to telnet to my machine and login as root (I will give you a temp. IP and password) to look around at why my X Server is not functioning. I have tried numerous things and got some good leads from Lenz but I cannot figure out what is wrong. If there is anyone I would appreciate a private e-mail to <A href="mailto:mathowel@nmsu.edu">mathowel@nmsu.edu</A></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>thanks a lot</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>matt howell</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>mathowel@nmsu.edu</FONT></DIV>

One thing that would help is what is the message you get when you attempt to start your Xserver? Have you run XfreeSetup (or XfreeConfig) and set up your machine? In order for Xfree to run, you need to have a symlink established to the correct server for your video card, has this been done? As far as the message below goes, either your pretty trusting or really desperate:=0 "Matthew D. Howell" wrote:

I don't think it's really necessary to have root priviledges to diagnose the problem. User account access should allow read rights which should be sufficient for the task. --------------------------------------------------------------------- John Karns jkarns@ares.csd.net - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
