Could somebody tell me please how to make exact copy (mirror) of my hard drive. For the ext2 file system, you may also consider dump/restore since they preserve holes and ext2 file attributes. tar and cpio don't preserve them.
But tar with 'p' option preserves file permisions?
It's true, but there are also the ext2-file-system-specific file attributes, see "man lsattr". tar, cpio, cp, ... don't copy them while "dd" and dump/restore do. -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
