I'm having a problem installing the java2.rpm on my 7.3-personal system. I want to install java2 so I can update to the latest Mozilla. When I try to install java2 it tells me I need to install the rpm unixodbc, which provides a required dependency. But after installing unixodbc, I still get an rpm error with java saying that the dependencies have not been met. Any ideas on what I might be missing? I'm sure I've installed all the required rpms but can't figure out why java2 still won't install.
You could always go to www.sun.com and get the tar.gz file. All you would have to do then is move the tar.gz file to /usr/lib and uncompress it. I always point apps at where I have the java directory instead of changing the default softlinks as not to break anything. At one point I had 4 different numbered versions of Java because different programs were written against the different version numbers. As long as the app your using knows where java makes it's home. Your all good. * David Kanter (dkanter@rushu.rush.edu) [011229 19:51]: ->I'm having a problem installing the java2.rpm on my 7.3-personal system.
