Hello, Something is not right with my xfs setup. I can't list my Type1 fonts. I'm using the xfs from the SuSE install which is located in /usr/X11R6/bin/ I fire up xfs root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > xfs -port 7101 -config /etc/xfs.conf & [1] 1628 I check it root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > ps ax |grep xfs 1628 ? S 0:00 xfs -port 7101 -config /etc/xfs.conf 1663 ? S 0:00 grep xfs It is set to read my config file (/etc/xfs.conf) which is shown: #- /etc/xfs.conf - clone-self = on client-limit = 10 # path to fonts catalogue = /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1 # how to log errors use-syslog = on error-file = /var/log/xfsft-errors.log # in decipoints default-point-size = 120 # x, y default-resolutions = 100,100,75,75 I go to list my Type1 fonts root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > /usr/X11R6/bin/fslsfonts -server localhost:7101 root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > Nothing! At this point tail -f /var/log/messages shows Mar 10 14:46:08host-name modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module binfmt-0000 I add fonts root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > xset +fp tcp/localhost:7101 root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > I try listing them once more. root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > /usr/X11R6/bin/fslsfonts -server localhost:7101 root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > Nothing. In /var/log/messages this appeared Mar 10 14:47:26 host-name last message repeated 2 times Why are my Type1 fonts not being listed? I use this /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1 fonts directory in XF86Config just fine and they are available in KDE. I'm trying to understand this, because I have the same problem with my TrueType fonts not being listed using xfsft. If I can figure out what's wrong here with xfs, then I think I can fix my TrueType problem. By the way, after doing this stuff at the console, NetScape won't open, and KDE won't shutdown. This may be a total red herring, but I would write: catalogue = /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/ ince that's the form of the original config file. Hello,
This may be a total red herring, but I would write:
catalogue = /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/
since that's the form of the original config file. I just tried the original config file for the heck of it.
root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > xfs -port 7100 -config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fs/config & [1] 446 root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > ps ax | grep xfs 446 ? S 0:00 xfs -port 7100 -config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fs/config 450 ? S 0:00 grep xfs root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > /usr/X11R6/bin/fslsfonts -server localhost:7100 root@host-name:/usr/home/russian > Once again, no fonts listed. And /var/log/messages shows: Mar 11 01:58:54 host-name modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module binfmt-0000 I've tried port 7101 too. Sigh!
