Okay... SuSE 5.3 ... I'm trying to install a 56k Leopard Win PnP modem. I have read through the "How To ..." from the SuSE support db. And I've done that, and I've gotten so far as to get a successful report from isapnp -- but, I also have Win95 installed on this box and under that the modem works on COM3. I set up Minicom for /dev/cua2 (or any other really) and when it starts, I cannot type anything, i.e. the modem is not working. Any tips, advice, suggestions? Also -- I have a regular old IBM 28.8 modem installed in there too that has worked under Red Hat & Slackware.. but it won't even recognize that. Is the presence of the PnP modem suppressing its ability to function? Argh! - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

is your modem a `Winmodem'? if so then it won't work. if it's *just* pnp then you can get it to work. also tell us what your IRQ setting is for it (you can find this in win95), win95 can usually work around two devices having the same irqs, but linux seems presently unable to do so. after all this, see if you can disable the pnp on your modem and manually set the com and irq #s. this won't stop win95 from being able to recognize your modem, but it will help you install it in Linux. if it is pnp and you can't disable it, don't worry it can still be made to work (i have my pnp modem working w/o isapnp even!) dave - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
