[S.u.S.E. Linux] Re: Postscript Fonts Question (fwd)

I have two SuSE machines, one is my print server and dialup gateway, the other is a workstation.
When printing from the workstation to the print server machine, jobs work fine, except that the fonts never seem to make it, and everything always prints in Times Roman, no matter what I use on the workstation.
Hmmm .... if there is no mistake or change in the ghostscript installation of the print server all PostScript source from the client should be printed well. To get PostScript to the print server it is possible to configure apsfilter on the worksation to use local filters (e.g. ghostscript) and make a bypass to the remote printer server instead of printing onto a device. Therefore run /var/lib/apsfilter/SETUP to make an entry in /etc/printcap for a virtuell PostScript printer (e.g. PS_remote) with device /dev/null. Now remove the comment sign `#' of REMOTE_PRINTER="remote" ... and add with /var/lib/apsfilter/SETUP or YaST a remote printer queue `remote'.
I copied all of the same fonts and fontmap over to the print server's Ghostscript font directory - was that necessary, or is that only part of the fix - because it didn't fix the probelm. What else should I be doing to fix this?
If your printer is not an PostScript printer you may _install_ ghostscript on the printer server. Then install apsfilter and configure it for the printer.
(Incidently, I have figured out how to make other fonts available to my system. I've added fonts from an NT Adobe Photoshop CD, and some from WP7 - using that type1inst utility from the GIMP resources page - but I still have the problem when printing)
Have a look into /usr/share/ghostscript/
