Indeed, krpmview is a suse extension, which doesn't appear to be compatible with kde 3.2 (see the archives for the tales of crashing woe with that app installed). It's part of kdebase3-SuSE which hasn't been (publically) ported to 3.2 yet. I wouldn't hold my breath for an update before suse 9.1 is released if I were you

How do i go about installing software with YaST and keeping the YaST module up-to-date and aware of everything?

rpm -Uvh *rpm ? Unless Im mistaken (always a possibility) I thought that Yast simply relies on the underlying rpm database. I know I have been installing rpms by hand on mnay many systems, and never had issues with yast getting coinfused by that. I could just have gotten lukcy I guess .. But yes, rpm -Uvh <filename> or yast -i <filename> are possible options. There are a million ways to do it
