[SLE] wp 8 installation (suse 6.4)
I downloaded WP8 and untarred it. When I try to install, it says 'Linux 2.2.14 not certified. Continue? (y/n)'. The install gets corrupted no matter which option I choose. On another messageboard, someone suggested installing all the packages in the 'd' series and said that it worked for them. I don't have enough space, and some packages seem completely irrelevant to this problem. What can I do to solve this? Thanks. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

<snip> Don't ya hate it when that sort of thing happens? Ok, the "Linux not certified" bit, reminds all of us, that it was originally tested on a relatively old kernal. What would be more useful in your case, would be the output you get when the curruption occurs and what were the commands you typed in that caused these outputs? My "guess" are that either the download got currupted; but that speculation will be clearer when you let us know what you typed. Say, anyone heard how Corel are getting on, when it comes to fixing WordPerfect Suite for LInux???? *BFN* Greek Geek :-) You will have many recoverable tape errors. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

My "guess" are that either the download got currupted; but that speculation will be clearer when you let us know what you typed. I have used my tarball on 40 machines in the past, and since trying it in SuSE. It works fine in RedHat yesterday. It is a simple process. Untar it and do ./Runme. It then tells about not certified. Continuing it throws about 200 errors chmoding files that arent there. Then You tell it where to install and it says "invalid install area" and that is the end. The only way to try to get it to go again is delete all files and untar again..

<snip> Eh? You lost me here man. Do you mean you have had no joy installing WordPerfect 8, the "download" version, on SuSE? For me, I have had it go fine on SuSE, 5.3/6.0/6.1/6.2/6.3/ & Mandrake 7.0. If you are still having a hard time with WordPerfect 8, give us a yell & "we" will see what we can do! *BFN* Greek Geek :-) "All the things one has forgotten scream for help in dreams".
