[opensuse] installing tumbleweed
Hello, I know it's not the place to ask for tumblweed, but my question is very basic and I don't want to subscribe now to a so active list as factory :-( I tried twice recently (less than a month) to install tw from an usb key written with the iso and imagewriter. None succeed the first stopped even before yast launch and the second at the network config. is tw installable? What is the prefered (more effective) way? 13.2 and 13.1 runs perfectly on this uefi/gpt asus laptop thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The current ISO does - I'm on a fresh TW install (inside a VirtualBox VM). $ grep VERSION= /etc/os-release VERSION="20150714 (Tumbleweed)" No bigger problems during the installation. (I just don't like the "expert partitioner" which even doesn't allow to simply take full /dev/sdb for /home, only in partitions.) I didn't have time to test the new born iso (this day), but could install 13.2 and then update to tw. a bit scary as the first boot didn't give a mouse... but second boot did jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Jees! How is this of any help? JDD already has the ISO image and used imagewriter to put the iso on a USB stick. Sorry for the rant. I have TW on my laptop and installed the same way except i turned off UEFI boot and it was many versions ago. The best guess I can offer is try different settings in the BIOS to see if that is the issue. If not it just may be incompatible hardware. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Actually this list seems to have much higher volume thanks to all off topic, flame and holy war threads. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Might be list admin(s) might be more active in moderating... E.g. that crappy Palestinian thread should be closed after few mails... Sincerely, Vojtěch -- Vojtěch Zeisek Komunita openSUSE GNU/Linuxu Community of the openSUSE GNU/Linux http://www.opensuse.org/ http://trapa.cz/
