Hi, I am using openSUSE 12.1 with KDE. I want to create some screencast and have tried Istanbul, Xvidcap and Recordmydesktop. None are working. They all crash. Can someone please help? In GNOME3 it is just Ctrl-Alt-Shift-R to start recording, and Ctrl-Alt-Shift-R to stop recording. When recording you'll see a red recording indicator in the lower right corner of the screen. Never had it fail. No clue how to to that in KDE. -- System & Network Administrator [ LPI & NCLA ] http://www.whitemiceconsulting.com OpenGroupware Developer http://www.opengroupware.us Adam Tauno Williams -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It works OK in xfce too, but I think the op needs to do a kde screencast. I suppose the workaround is to install a vm, run it under gtk and record the vm window with kde running. Or make a bugzilla. I have been playing with this recently and have discovered a wonderful feature of FFMPEG. I also failed dismally with the programs you talk about due to composite managers. Just try this command in a terminal ffmpeg -f x11grab -s 1280x1024 -r 10 -i :0.0 -f alsa -i pulse -sameq -r 30 \ test.mpg It will create a screencast of display 0 and grab your sound. In a pulse sound manager you can set where your sound is coming from. Hope this helps Andrew -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
