Hello all.. I know I am the Gnome advocate, but I am wondering how to start Konq by itself..w/ out KDE2 running. I was told you could and it just bitched at me..and none of the Netscape plugins worked. I let Gnome automatically start /opt/kde2/bin/kdeinit, it starts dcopserver, klauncher and all that is necessary for working with kde2 applications under Gnome. ain -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

in Gnome Control Panel (or was it 'center'?) there is a choice 'starting programs' or so... I dont now exactly, I'm not using LANG=en_Blah. Type in /opt/kde2/bin/kdeinit (of course, if kde2 executables are under /opt/kde2/bin/) and restart Gnome. If you dont want that kdeinit starts every time with gnome you can start it manually from command line. Btw, I had some problem with kde2 application defaults (under Gnome kde2 didn't remember preferences given under kde2), but it is not very difficult to set them twice :). Some kde2 applications work under other desktops even better, e.g. KOffice... ain -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
