Receive a Cordial Greeting , I would like to control a graphical application from a remote console or terminal program. For example, I run the Mplayer in order to play a video and I want to send the control keys sequences from other window (konsole) or a remote pocket pc console. How could i do that ? Thanks in advance, Gustavo Adolfo

The easiest way to do it from a remote PC (not sure about handhelds) is via KDE (assuming you're using SUSE 9.2). Kmenu --> System --> Remote Access On the host you want to connect to, use Desktop Sharing to create an invitation. On the remote system, open a web browser and connect to your machine using http://xxx.xxx.x.xx:5901/, using the password generated by the invitation. I haven't had time to figure out to make sure the connection is permanently available. If your remote desktop is a GNU/Linux box also, you can use the Remote Connection on the Remote Access menu to connect to the remote system. Another alternative is to use "ssh -X" to do the same thing. However, if you're connecting from a Windows box, you'll need an X server for Windows (X-win32 or eXceed?), plus an ssh client, like putty. Generally, just connect with ssh -X and enter the command to start the app.
